Peter I agree completely.

There isn't anything to reassure the amarkets. So it's all about short term profit taking. The question is who are they being taken from. And are they getting tired of being the loser yet?

Perhaps that horrible phrase 'green shoots' has been a coded warning to those in the know.

'The newly released figures suggest green shoots are emerging.'

Translation - 'Oh, bugger! Plant some spuds.'

I’m not sure the markets are genuinely reassured. This kind of news report throws up something of a self fulfilling prophecy. The expectation that prices will rise in the short term, presents an entry point for some to make a quick buck. That’s not the same as a sustained sp rise based on something which actually adds value.

I dunno, maybe the banks have been lending less ? Don't know much at all about Central Banking -- for example --- FT article
but I do know I'd better get out in the garden !

Not a coincidence that you and I have veg gardens, and so does my mate Eachran --

I and the lady I sometimes live with are starting to become self-sufficient in food. It's a start for protecting ourselves from imminent disaster.
