As far as I know, the Transmediterranean gasline main obstacle is Turkey, that prefers the Russian connection that traverses it. Regarding Lebanon, it is a failed state, its power is nil. You mention that Israel will have to shed its blood – well we are not a spoiled American or European country, we have shown time after time that we are ready to sacrifices if necessary.

The reason I think this is because of the ordering of the “Regime Changes”.

The Wahhabi way to “make friends and influence people” is to Kill, specifically:

Kill the Apostates, Kill the Heretics, Kill the Infidels, finally Kill the Jews. It has to be done in that specific order, because killing the Jews will bring Armageddon – which would ruin the party of doling out righteous punishments so to speak.

So we have:

Iraq, Libya, Syria, Lebanon -> Secular States, a.k.a. Apostates and most important to kill in the Wahhabi world order.

Iran (Especially – but anything Muslim but not Wahhabi are Heretics). So there must be a war with Iran. Consequently, the US very much wants a war with Iran.

Infidels -> Western Europe, Russia, China and the USA. So there must be a war with Russia started from European soil, with luck the retaliation strike will destroy Western Europe (They need USA around to make war on China, destroying both parties).

Israel – A couple of Pakistani nukes should do the job really.

So, why should the liberal democracy (kinda) USA help out with this?

I therefore suspect that there are at least *some* important, very powerful, people within the State Departmen and the MIC who actually, really, believe that if they can somehow perform “The ritual that brings on Armageddon”, they can effectively summon “Our Lord and Saviour”, skip The Tribulations and simply enter Paradise during their lifetimes and not whenever The Lord deems is the time. *That* kind of Lunatic Crazy!

In my opinion straight-up apocalyptic religious nuttiness more clearly explains US policies in the Middle East and the unholy alliance with Saudi Arabia than the rational alternatives; we are thus in for a crazy, never-ending, ride of carnage and destruction!

I’d suggest that what may be missing from the picture is the fact that as the Sun has entered a long cycle quiet phase, and the global climate is forecast to move steeply into a significant cold period for the next 40 years or so, starting … well… now-ish, then in the next decades there will be a greatly increased demand for gas and oil, simply to keep Europe and the US warm and moving.
