The Debt Generation is now ready and shipping.

Hello all,

Sorry for the silent days.  The book is now out.  Hurrah!  If any of you want to let me know what you make of it, please do.  You don’t have to be kind. It is what it is, good, bad or infuriating.

If any of you do like it, please feel quite at liberty to mention it as you see ift.  I am looking forward to starting to do talks about it. I’ll let you know how they go.  I am hoping people ask good questions and take issue with things.

  1. Good luck with the book Golem. Are the numbers looking hopeful?

Talking about hope, or a distinct lack of it, here is a very well thought out analysis of the crisis in Ireland, by Morgan Kelly:

    Mauled by the Celtic Tiger

    A small extract:
'If one family defaults on its mortgage, they are pariahs: if 200,000 default they are a powerful political constituency. There is no shame in admitting that you too were mauled by the Celtic Tiger after being conned into taking out an unaffordable mortgage, when everyone around you is admitting the same.'

  2. GOOD ON YOU !!
i hope that i can get you over to Paris some time in the future.
Here, people are even deafer to debt politics than in the UK, and there is even less in the media.

yet when you explain it simply , they perk up considerably.

  3. Golem XIV - Thoughts

    Hello Rich,

I haven't asked about the numbers yet. Haven't had the courage.

Thanks for the link. Good article.

I wonder when people will remember that they have the power to change laws. Even financial ones. The Irish can't walk away from their mortgages the way Americans can. But what happens if the Irish decided to elect a party to change that law?

Unthinkable? Let's see what a year of greatly increased suffering does. I think the unthinkable is goint o get an airing in several countires.

    Andrew,

Thank you! Say the word and I'm there.

    Bravebart,

We hope to get a bit more stock to Amazon this week and are thinling about the Kindle/ebook. Can you tell my the attraction of ebook formats? I have never tried them so I would value a lesson in what is good or attractive about them.

    If you have the time.

  5. I've not actually touched the Kindle but I have one on the way. My reason for buying is cutting down on the bulk a 600+ page book is in my bag and the excellent reviews they've had. The Kindle software is available for use on a pc and ipod etc so I can't see how the ebook won't succeed. I don't think this is the end of the printed book though.
