Final dates and times for London "Inside Job" talks.

Here are the final dates and times for the talks and Q&A sessions after showings of Charles Ferguson’s Oscar nominated “Inside Job”.

Charles Ferguson rather kindly sent us this in response to reading The Debt Generation,

“David Malone comes to a similar conclusion as I came to making Inside Job: that the financial system, as presently constituted, isn’t just a danger to our economy, but to our very democracy.”

As you can see below, I will be free to meet people more informally after the Q&A on Friday at The Phoenix, on Saturday in North London before the show, at the Everyman after the show, and on Sunday morning in the Brixton/S. London area.

Leave a comment here or you can email me at the address you can find on my profile.  If anyone has a suggestion for a good venue in the Brixton/S. London area for us to meet and the same for Hampstead/N. London please let us know.

Lastly if you take a look at the top of the blog you’ll see I put up a new button which links to a new page of talks and events.  I will update this with the Manchester and Liverpool dates and with subsequent events as they come up.

  1. Double damnation!!! – I will be away that weekend : (
Would have loved to go to Ritzy, it's just down the road…
Re: meeting up afterwards – there is a bar/restaurant downstairs at the Ritzy cinema, though it can get busy, and another called "Upstairs' on the first floor, which might be more comfortable:

Perhaps talk to the cinema and see if you could bag some space there, if it's open?

Wish I could be there – will try for the Phoenix, but have a v early start Sat am, so not sure yet.

    Hope all goes swimmingly!

  2. I accidentally went to the ritzy one late sunday in jan, thinking it was on then, such was my misguided enthusiasm. I'll do my utmost to turn up on time!

  3. Golem XIV - Thoughts

I once went a week too early to New York to meet my dad. Not from here I should add. But still from Philadelphia which is a good few hundred miles.

  4. Golem & william price:

So if I go THIS coming Sunday instead of next, there's a fair chance I'll bump into both of you!

  5. Golem:
Please let us know what works best for that sunday. Maybe Mr S's idea of meeting at cinema would be easiest?
PS: With the blindingly bright minds here, I'm out of my league. But the chance to meet others who share a similar perspective on this societal cancer will be very cool indeed.
    Thanks,
Teri (the perpetual student of everything)

  6. Add my congratulations on Secret Life of Waves… very moving.
So its all happening, Egypt is exploding in a glorious way. Maybe here too after all your and others patient exhaustive work helping make sense of the utter craziness of what has been happening behind the mirrors. Maybe like Egypt the time has come when the lid will no longer stay on. I cheered on Lord Oakshott… small thing but indicates what is simmering still…
Anyhow be great to see you ..I am coming up to London on Friday so will make it to the Everyman in Hampstead…

  7. We're coming to see you in East Finchley – 18 Feb. Am really looking forward to this, and have now nearly finished your book. It's brilliant. I notice it gets quite a lot of attention as I read it on the Tube, people staring at the cover, reading over my shoulder. I wonder what are they thinking? I dont travel to the City, but I think that would be a neat thing to do – read this on a train full of bankers enroute to work, holding the book up in their faces.

  8. Whatever you figure out for the Ritzy screening, I'll be there with my dad and a few friends. Perhaps 'The Rest is Noise' could do, though I hear it's more of a gig venue now than a pub. Last time I went there for a drink it was very nice though.

  9. I paid for my tickets today. If you look on the website there is no mention of the film as they are having problems but if you phone up you can order tickets.

Have we figured a venue yet? I like the sound of the bar in the cinema but I'm pretty lazy. I'd go to every march going if I could take my sofa.
Maybe a drive rather than a march? Would make the congestion charge more appropriate.

    William it's THIS week.

  10. Golem XIV - Thoughts

I think the easiest thing is if we make the cinemas the meeting places at each place. So I'll be at teh Phoenix in E. Finchley before and after the flmi.

On Saturday we can meet up a bit befiore the film and stay around after at the Everyman in Hampstead and on Sunday I'll be at the Ritzy certainly early enough to get some lunch.

Let me know if that 's OK with everyone.
It will be great to meet and talk in person. I'm looking forward to it.

  11. @ readers in Ireland
